A special presentation was held during Blizzcon WoTLK Gold, World of Warcraft Director Duncan Jones said the movie will have a number of special effects, which he described as "Avatar or Lord of the Rings at the same simultaneously."

The World of Warcraft movie has seen an unintended setback. CraveOnline met with Spider-Man director Sam Raimi at Comic-Con last week. There, the director announced that he is no longer associated with the film that is based on Blizzard's massively multiplayer online Role-Playing game due to his work on Oz: The Great and Powerful. Raimi has been announced as director of the World of Warcraft film director.

"Actually, they don't have me directing World of Warcraft anymore, since when I accepted the Oz position, they had shift to a new director," Raimi said. "They had to start making it."

There was no mention of a replacement for Raimi as the World of Warcraft film director. At press time, Blizzard has not replied to P2Pah's request regarding comment.

The World of Warcraft movie was revealed in the year 2006. At the time, Blizzard stated that the intention was to create "one of the greatest films ever made buy WOW WoTLK Classic Gold." In 2009. Raimi made an official announcement to directthe project, and later that year, Saving Private Ryan scribe Robert Rodat was announced as the film's author. In the year 2010. Raimi provided more information about the film and said he had a 40-page report that "needs much work."
